Get on my Earth Day mailing list!
Sunday, March 16th, 2008
Earth Day will be here on April 22nd! That means I’m going to get to work on the next Chalk Fooljob Earth Day Card THIS weekend. Chalk Fooljob is a character I draw comics about every now and then. He’s not a superhero. More of a rocket-powered mystic, and he always has something to say about the state of our planet.
If you’re reading this, then I’d like for you to receive it. I know that might mean that some of you will have to quit being anonymous lurkers out there, but don’t worry: we can keep it between you and me. Shoot me an email and give me your POSTAL address (this is real mail). Here’s where to hit me up:
bradydale [thAt symbol] verizon [the other one] net
Cool? Real, paper art. People still do that sometimes. I know! (Yes, yes… I should go paperless for Earth Day, but I’m not).
I really really want to add people to the list. So even if we don’t know each other, even if I haven’t seen you in years, even if you just read this sight to be reminded of what a yahoo I am… I don’t care. Send me an email. I want you to get this card. It’s always fun.
BTW… you can click on the image above to see a larger version of it. That’s Chalk, my character, flying through Washington, DC. All those places are real.

You KNOW I want one, I better still be on the list. I have a new PO BOX, though. it’s 682 lawrence kansas 66044.
I’m looking at this little excerpt you’ve posted and just marveling at how much your illustration style has evolved and improved over the last 7 years you’ve been sending out this earth day card.
Out of curiosity how much has your circulation increased in that time?
I need to get back to you on circulation. I think it started at around 40 and now is at about 200. It’s about 2/3 people I know from all the cities I’ve lived in (except Tallahassee where i had no friends at all) and about 1/3 comic book pros that I just like to send it to. An accurate number is always hard to say because I have technical problems with the list every year and with last year’s computer going kablooie I don’t even want to think about what list recovery is going to be like.
I think the page I’m showing here is cheating a little. While I do think the draughtsmanship has improved, this one is an illustration based on photos I took around DC. My work always looks much better when I draw from photos, but it’s sort of cheating. Still, I do think I’ve improved and thanks for noticing. Hopefully this years will mark some minor step forward as well.
